Supernatural Healing and Deliverance

Supernatural Healing

God's Heart is for people to be Healthy, Whole, and Healed. The word "heal" and "healing" means to make solid or whole. In the Bible it means the restoration of health, the making whole or well whether physically, mentally or spiritually.

Please keep in mind that no scripture condemns the legitimate use of doctors or medical science, but one of the names of God is Jehovah-Rapha meaning “the Lord who heals.”

It is evidenced through both Old Testament and New Testament scripture that God does have the power to heal our physical bodies. Miraculous healings still happen today! And that miraculous healing can be done through all of God's children.

James 5:14-15 "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven."

God has the power to heal the whole person.

  • Spiritually (Psalm 103:2-3; Jeremiah 3:22; 1 Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:5)

  • Physically (2 Kings 5:10; Isaiah 38:15-16; Psalm 41:3; Psalm 107:19-20; Matthew 14:14)

  • Emotionally (Psalm 34:18)

  • Mentally (Daniel 4:34)

God Gave You The Power To Heal The Sick

The Lord never told us to pray for the sick in the sense that we ask Him to heal them. He told us to heal the sick. There is a BIG difference between the two. It has to do with operating in the authority He has already given us. Look at these commands the Lord gave His disciples.

“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”(Luke 9:1-2)

“And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.” (Matt. 10:1)

“And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” (Matt. 10:7-8)

Jesus told us to heal the sick not pray for the sick.

Mark 16:17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;

18 They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.

Supernatural Deliverance

Deliverance refers to casting out evil spirits in order to free people from torment, oppression, and bondage.

The supernatural world is real and impacts the natural world. Evil spirits–also called demons–are part of the kingdom of darkness. They desire to carry out the work of the devil to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10).

The Gospels are full of accounts and descriptions of Jesus casting demons out of people. This may sound strange to some people today, but it was everyday life for Jesus. It is important to understand that deliverance is just as important for us today as it was in the ministry of Jesus. Demons have not gone away.

When we study what the Bible says about demons, it is very clear that Christians cannot be demon possessed. However, the Bible does say that a believer can be oppressed or influenced by a demon. What’s the difference? Possession means that the demon has full control over the person. Examples of this can be found in Matthew 17:14-18 and Luke 4:33-35; 8:27-33. Demon oppression is very different. If a person is oppressed by a demon, that demon influences the person toward sin.

Compassion

Deliverance may also be defined as the compassion of the Lord Jesus Christ; demonstrable in confronting the powers of evil and wicked spirits imprisoning afflicted and suffering souls. Souls under direct and indirect influence of the wiles of demonic and satanic spirits; are victims of such wicked and merciless powers of darkness. This compassion is the welling up of earnest desire to see the Kingdom of God manifest in power in the lives of those afflicted, oppressed, possessed and tormented by powers of evil and wicked spirits. The Lord Jesus Christ had compassion on the suffering, afflicted, infirmed, oppressed and possessed.

Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
